Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, reiterated the need to simplify the immigration process to attract skilled individuals to the United States. In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Sriram Krishnan, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, regarding a podcast episode that addressed challenges faced by skilled immigrants, Musk emphasized the importance of facilitating the entry of talent into the country.
The podcast, which featured Debarghya ‘Deedy’ Das, an investor and former Google researcher, discussed topics such as the legal immigration system and the American political landscape. Musk reinforced his stance in favor of legal immigration, stating that it is essential to attract talented, hardworking, and honest individuals. However, he also expressed concern about illegal immigration and its potential economic and national security implications. Musk has previously criticized uncontrolled immigration policies, warning about the risks of social and economic destabilization, and suggested that the current administration might be contributing to more severe future problems.
It is worth noting that President-elect Donald Trump announced on November 12 that Elon Musk, along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the new ‘Department of Government Efficiency’.
