The U.S. Consulate General in Porto Alegre has announced a temporary suspension of visa issuance and will remain closed until May 24th due to heavy rains, prioritizing the safety of the public and staff. Applicants with scheduled appointments during this period will receive instructions for rescheduling.
The consulate also advises that assistance for American citizens in the region is available 24/7 in case of emergencies.
New applicants can schedule their interviews at other consulate posts: Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Recife.
