Global Entry

Global Entry is a pre-approval program for international travelers arriving in the United States. It was developed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to streamline the border control process for travelers deemed low-risk. The program is designed to make travel more efficient by providing a faster and more convenient experience for participants, reducing lines and time spent at border controls.

Here are the key points about Global Entry:

• Pre-Approval: Global Entry applicants undergo a rigorous background check, including criminal history checks and in-person interviews.

• Fast Entry at Airports: Access to self-service stations at participating airports to quickly and efficiently complete immigration and customs information.

• Application Fee: Applicants are required to pay this fee at the time of application, covering the background check process and in-person interview.

• Approval Duration: Once approved, Global Entry status is generally valid for five years, after which members need to renew their participation in the program.

• Eligibility Requirements: Global Entry is available to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and citizens of certain countries with specific agreements with the U.S.

• Conditional Participation in Other Programs: Individuals may also qualify to participate in similar programs in other countries that have cooperation agreements with the United States, such as NEXUS in Canada and SENTRI in Mexico.

In summary, Global Entry is a program that provides frequent travelers with an efficient way to enter the United States, focusing on identifying and expediting the processing of low-risk travelers.
